Welcome to the moderated misc.transport.air-industry newsgroup. This group is intended for discussion of the airline/air travel industries. Discussion of personal air travel belongs in the rec.travel.air group.
Run your favorite net news program such as Free Agent, Mozilla Thunderbird, Outlook Express, trn, or tin, and tell it to display misc.transport.air-industry. Usenet messages are carried on news servers throughout the world.
Before posting anything, please read the group for a little while so you understand the tone and topics of the group, and read the FAQ below and the charter.
Once you've done that, to post a message, mail it to mtai@airinfo.aero or use your news program's posting feature which should mail it for you. The first time you post a message, you should receive a confirmation message asking if it was you, to which you must respond. After that, messages are passed to the moderators who post messages that comply with the group's charter. The robomoderator always sends a short acknowledgement each time it receives and posts something.
If you don't get the confirmation message, most likely either your news program isn't mailing messages correctly, or the From: line in your message is set wrong and doesn't have your correct mail address. The easiest solution to both is usually to mail messages yourself rather than using the posting feature of your news program.
Any posts whose contents are within the group's charter
Press releases from airlines and other airline industry-related corporations as long as the content is informative and/or and may lead to discussions.
No advertising will be accepted, either for jobs, or aircraft. however, discussions about advertising which was seen will be accepted (for instance, someone spotting an ad by an airline wishing to sell its aircraft).

The airline industry has its own set of acronyms which may be daunting to the uninitiated. Some of the codes are well known, such as JFK airport, or BA for British Airways.
As a rule, you should only use a non-common code only after having defined it in your text, for instance:
Varig (RG) will begin non-stop service between JFK and the Galapagos Islands (GPS) on July 13th. The flight will depart JFK at 3:00pm and arrive GPS at 3:02pm.misc.transport.air-industry's web site located at http://mtai.airinfo.aero will contain a list of well known airline industry acronyms that can be freely used in text.
misc.transport.air-industry maintains a web site containing its charter, the posting guidelines (this document) as well as others resources.
It is located at: http://mtai.airinfo.aero
